Caroline, one of our Rainbow and Guide Leaders from Battersea District has been awarded the Community Champion Award 2011 by her employer Lloyds Bank. As one of our team who lead London South West’s Site at the “Go for the World” Camp in May 2011, Caroline also runs on of our Brownie Units in Battersea and has held various posts at county level. Her next project is as joint QM (Cook!) at the Go for Gold Camp being held in May 2012 and after that, the Brownie’s Lark in the Dark in September. Its great that an employer has awarded one of its employees for something they do out of work!

On a rather cloudy Saturday in May, LSW leaders, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section members assembled in Wimbledon Park for our annual Boating Day – a mix of fun on the water in canoes and sailing boats, along with some crafts, crazy golf and games. The girls spent half the day on the lake getting the hang of sailing, balance and teamwork on the water, and the other half playing Crazy Golf, playing a variety of games and doing some edible and non-edible craft work in the warmth of the hut!

As ever,  a good time was had by all, and possibly the “huge” dead fish in the lake was the Brownies’ most talked about event of the day!

Secondly, two leaders from London South West have been accepted on Region trips, one to Costa Rica and another to South Africa! Further information and details of these exciting new adventures will follow!

Wednesday 20th October 2010 saw 6500 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers, Young Leaders, Adult leaders, Trefoil members and anybody else who wanted to join our party all congregate in Trafalgar Square for an evening of music and celebration to end the Cenenary Year and culminate in everybody renewing their Promise at 20.10, 20/10 2010.

After a year of events for all sections, the wearing of our now famous “pink centenary t-shirts” and looking to the future, our time of celebration has drawn to a close. Several London South West members were part of the organisation team behind Trafalgar Square’s event which had music, dance and our finale extravagnaza, the renwal of promises.

So, with the Centenary year done, we look forward to the next year ahead, which, for London South West will include a huge Brownie Sleepover event, participation at a Guide Camp at Blacklands Farm, our now annual Watersports Day, and many hundreds of events within our unit meetings and our districts.
