Older Brownies are being given the chance to come and experience a night’s camping at our Go for Gold Camp. They are invited to come on Sunday for the night to participate in some of the activities and get a feel for how Guides do it! If you are a parent or leader with older Brownies and want to find out more – email the team on goforgoldcamp@yahoo.co.uk.

On the 15th/16th September, Brownies from all over LSW are going to come together for a huge sleepover under canvas and participate in a fun night away. Gig in a Field 13th – 15th July 2012
Are you a Senior Section Member, Young Leader or a Guide aged 13+ who’d like to unwind after a summer of exams, or perhaps just have fun and meet other young people from London South West? Do you love music and adventure?

Gig in a field is an exclusive Senior Section camp to be held in Hertfordshire from 13-15th July. We’re bringing together a group of older guides, young leaders and Senior Section members from across the County to dance the weekend away at this exclusive mini music festival. There’ll be live music, silent disco and circus skills plus climbing and inflatable obstacle course.

For more info, email us on info@girlguidinglondonsw.org.uk and we can send you contact details and the flier!

Do you want to join us but don’t know where to start?
We’re a friendly bunch and we love to welcome new leaders,  but there isn’t always a great deal of spare time during meetings because there are 7 Brownies who want help cutting out, or 3 Guides desperate to tell you their idea or a new Rainbow to help settle in. SO, we plan little social gatherings to get to know each other and welcome new faces.

Monday 30th April is our next meet, it will be at  a venue in Vauxhall so if you have been toying with joining us, drop us a line on info@girlguidinglondonsw.org.uk and we can give you the details.

Go on! Be brave and join us – we can tell you how much fun it is and how much you’ll get out of volunteering, but you need to come along to really find out!

Events we have attended!

Rosie Billet was one of the 11 girls and leaders from London South West joining members from London and the South East Region who attended the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey on 12th March. Some photos are below and she wrote:

“The Comonwealth gathering is the UK’s largest annual faith gathering. One thousand school children, 10 Guides (this is why Maddie and me left school early) and 11 brownies were invited to take part in the service. Also, people from all over the world came and a few lucky people got to go up on the stage in Westminster Abbey and meet the Queen!

The service started with a procession of flags which were carried in order of their membership. Then 11 people all of different faiths came up and made a speech. Afterwards, the queen made a speech and we sang the National Anthem “God save the Queen”. Then, Rufus Wainwright sang Halleluja. The service was very special, there was even a song composed for it, but my favourtites were Chimamanda Adichie and Hugh Masekela”
