London South West Awards

A list of all available awards for our volunteers from London South West, London and South East Region and Girlguiding.

Awards Available to Volunteers

District Award – Jack Petchey Award

Availbale to adult volunteers in London & Essex working with 11-25 year olds who have not previously held a JPF Leader Award.

It is awarded by the Jack Petchey Foundation on nomination by the girls with the support of the District Commissioner.

Contact your District Commissioner if you would like to make a nomination.

 

District Award – National Thanks Badge

Awarded to either a member or a non-member of Girlguiding as a sign of appreciation for their support.

Nominations can be made by any member of Girlguiding and require approval of a leader or District Commissioner.

County Award – Long Service Award

Long Service awards are given to an adult member who has actively carried out the role for 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60 years (not necessarily consecutively).

The County Commissioner must establish when members in the County are due awards. In the case of a query about the length of service, the decision of the County Commissioner is final.

County Award – County Brooch

(formerly known as County Standard)

 

 

 

 

Awarded to adult volunteers who have served the County leadership team.

It is awarded by the LSW County Commissioner at her discretion.

LaSER Award – Chief Commissioners Award

 

Awarded to adult volunteers who are inspirational leaders.

It is awarded by the Region Chief Commissioner on the recommendation of the LaSER Awards Committee.

Diamond Award

An award for any member of Girlguiding, up to her 30th Birthday, who has done something exceptional, as well as being a committed member of Girlguiding

 

 

Make a Difference Award

For groups within Units, Districts, Divisions or Counties who have made a significant difference to the lives of others through a community action project. This could be through fundraising or a practical project.

National Award – Guiding Star

Awarded to any member of Girlguiding under 26 who has displayed exceptional courage or who has shown great initiative or responsibility at an incident.

A nomination can be made by any member to Girlguiding National Awards Committee after a discussion with the relevant Commissioner. Must be initially sent to County/Country or Region.

National Award – Good Service Brooch

Awarded to adult volunteers for excellent service to guiding at any level.

It can be awarded by the Chief Guide (Association Good Service Brooch), Regional Chief Commissioner for services to Region (Region Good Service Brooch) or the LSW County Commissioner (County Good Service Brooch)

National Award – Laurel Award

This award is given in recognition of outstanding service to guiding to any active adult member of Girlguiding.

It is awarded by The Chief Guide, on recommendation of the National Awards Committee which takes recommendations from LaSER Awards Committee

National Award – Silver Fish Award

This award is given to an active adult member of Girlguiding or one of the branch associations for an exceptional contribution to a wide section of Girlguiding including international guiding either in the UK or abroad.

It is awarded by The Chief Guided, on recommendation of the National Awards Committee.

Wandsworth Borough Awards

There are Borough level awards where nomination is by leaders in consultation with the DC; criterion and nomination processes are shown on the relevant websites:

Wandsworth Young Person of the Year: awarded to young people under 19 living or studying in the Borough. More details can be found here. 

Wandsworth Civic Awards: recognises adult individuals and groups volunteering in the Borough on an annual basis. More details can be found here.

BATCA Balham & Tooting Community Association make annual awards to local “Community Heroes”. More details can be found here.
